Serenity
(September 2005)

Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...

A big heap of Sci-Fi, a little Spaghetti Western and a good sense of fun, Serenity is the big screen follow up to the cult favorite show FireFly by Joss Whedon. Put quite simply, if you never got a chance to watch the short lived Fire Fly series you will be compelled to watch it after you see this movie. The characters and world are so interesting that you'll want to see how it started.

The movie begins with and evolves around the mystery of River Tam. Rescued from an Alliance experimental laboratory by her brother Simon, they are now crew members aboard the Serenity. The crew of Serenity includes captain Malcolm (Nathan Fillion), Wash (Alan Tudyk), Zoe (Gina Torres), Kaylee (Jewel Staite), and Jayne (Adam Baldwin). They soon learn that there is more to their newest member then meets the eye. We soon find out that River is being hunted by the most feared of the Alliance's agents, the Operative. He will do anything to stop River and the crew of the Serenity from unlocking the secret that the Alliance has tried so disparately to conceal.

Rating: PG-13 for sequences of intense violence and action, and some sexual references.
