Signs
(August 2002)

This movie wholely substantiates my belief that you should never live near a corn field. Only people who live near corn fields are in danger from aliens making circles to later use as landing zones so they can come and attempt to kidnap Culkin kids. Nothing like that would ever happen in the city.

M. Night Shyamalan's latest attempt to scare us is good, but not as good as The Sixth Sense. Mel Gibson plays the lead role of Graham Hess (I would have rather watched Bruce Willis in this role). It is in his corn field that the aliens decide to come and make a crop circle. For some odd reason Graham, his brother Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) and his two kids decide to stay put in their house even after they figure out why the aliens have come. Naturally, chaos in sues, but fear not it turns out aliens aren't all that smart. Sure they figured out how to build space ships and can coordinate attacks on helpless planets, but they have a slight problem getting past flimsy wooden doors.

Signs does have a few slow parts but overall is an enjoyable movie to watch.

Rated PG-13 for some frightening moments.
